Social Blogger Network or a Dating Website :) Yes, I am talking about blogcatalog. I was just wondering the other day what might have gone into the heads of those gentleman who finally created it. What were they upto actually? I just get the feeling that they wanted to create a successful blogger social network but they ended up with something else. Hehehe..they ended up with a dating site actually. No complaints though. We all love to date and when you get so many good opportunities then why not make use of it. In my opinion, apart from being the most successful blogger social network, blogcatalog can also be seen as one of the hottest dating networks. I would rather term it as a humorous dating..hehehe!

Just imagine the CEO of blogcatalog is in conversation with Daniel - the lead programmer of blogcatalog. Blogcatalog hasn't been created yet. The CEO of upcoming blogcatalog is quite worried. He calls Daniel for a small discussion. And the discussion gets started -

Daniel - Fine, Don't piss me off.
CEO ( a bit angry) - Daniel, Is this the way to reply? You shouldn't forget that I am your BOSS.
Daniel (grinning) - Boss..hehehehe!
CEO (more angry) - Now this is not acceptable. Stop laughing at me !
Daniel - Ok, tell me what to do ?
CEO - Nothing special but we are planning to create a social blogger network.
Daniel (Eagerly) - Blogger social network - Awesome !
CEO - Hmmmmm....Actually, the idea was to create a dating network. But I think the best thing would be to create a social network for bloggers where they can date also. Howz it?
Daniel (Excited) - Looks great! Hey, will I be able to date or not ?
CEO - Yes dear, you can also date just like me. Its been a very long time when I dated. Actually, I love to date. And I want everyone to date on my website without any problem.
Daniel - You are very kind. I am proud of you. Now, please explain me my role. I am in a hurry. I cannot waste my time for people like you.
CEO - Daniel, You are a sucker. Anyways, We would like you take up this task.
Daniel - Which task?
CEO - Are you sleeping still? I want you to program the whole website.
Daniel - Well, I am ready for this task provided I am being being paid the right amount.
CEO - Hey, I will pay you as much you want. But then why do you always question about the money?
Daniel - Well, its none of your business. Look, I am not your slave. If you will not pay me, there are many others waiting outside. Fine, you have hired me as a programmer but then you need to look into my demands also. I left my previous company for the same reason. They kept on saying that they would pay me more after seeing my performance. And believe me, I did show them my performance. In fact, I was the top performer in their company. But still, nothing changed. I was made to thrive on a meager salary and with the peoples around who were involved in dirty politics. I just couldn't survive in such atmosphere. I had to leave finally. And now here also, the same stupid question. Also, you shouldn't forget that we are bound to be faced with recession this year or the next year for sure. What will I do in such case? Will you still retain me as a programmer or get someone else on a meager salary? I know you people - You just reason each and everything with cost cutting. Cost-Cutting..Huh !! Being a CEO, you won't cut your salary but do the same for people like us. And the worst you can do, is to layoff. Look, Do you take a moment to realize its after-affects? Being laid off, how much it hurts? How painful is it in real life? Believe me, it does HURT!! Why are you quiet? Tell me, DO YOU THINK ABOUT IT SERIOUSLY FOR A SECOND ?????????
CEO (stunned) - Hey Daniel, Relax !! You have left me with tears. I could never think about it. Yes, I will pay you as per your demands. Plus once you complete this project successfully, you will also be eligible for a promotion. Yes, you will be promoted to the post of senior programmer. And yes, I am ready to cut my salary but cannot bear the loss of performer like you.
Daniel - Boss, Thank you very much. I will do my best to complete this project within deadline.
CEO - Good, You are great :)
Daniel - I know :)
CEO - Enough, now get lost and do what you are supposed to do !!

hahahaha...So, here we are. Daniel is finally happy and he is ready to take up this task. Now, while he is working on the project, the CEO of blogcatalog comes up with one major issue. Let us see -

CEO - Hey Daniel, I am faced with one issue. Hope you will be able to sort it out.
Daniel - Whats it?
CEO - I have a plan to create a shoutbox feature in this project through which people will be able to text message each other.
Daniel - Wow !! But whats the issue with it ?
CEO - The issue lies with privacy. What if I don't want my message to be visible to others except the person whom I am sending it to?
Daniel - Dear, its so simple. We will add a private checkbox feature just below the shoutbox. Once this checkbox is checked, the message would be visible to the actual recipient not others. Isn't it the right solution ?
CEO - Right??? Dear, its the best solution. I am proud of you. Now, I will be able to message privately - I love you, I wanna kiss you, I wanna smooch you....everything without making others to peep into it. WOW !!
Daniel - Boss, You are very HORNY !!
CEO - Yes, I am :)
Daniel - Now, please leave me alone and let me do what you am I supposed to do !!

Hahahahahaha..Yes, believe me the shoutbox feature is one of the most remarkable features of blogcatalog. And that private checkbox adds a lot of humour to it..hehehhehe ! Yes, people can write anything to anyone and forget about it being seen by any other except the actual recipient. Hehehehe..this private checkbox can also create problem at times. Let us assume Michael is a regular member of blogcatalog. He finds a gal named Kim on blogcatalog. He wants to have friendship with her without letting anyone else to know about it. So, he types his friendship message in the shoutbox and sends it privately by checking the private checkbox. He thinks that he will receive a reply in a similar way - privately. But alas, hahaha..what happened? Dear, he got this reply - Sorry, I cannot be your friend. You seem to be a dork. And the worst to happen - the private checkbox hasn't been checked and its all public. Hahaha..Michael is exposed. He is left embarrassed. And its not only about Micheal, I too have experienced it so many times..hehehe ! It can really create a problem for you. So, please be careful..hehehe ! Also at times, it may happen that you are planning to message someone but it goes to someone else. That also can be a problem. Suppose, you are ready with your message. And by mistake you choose the wrong recipient. Like you wanted it to send to Maya and it went to Rosy. You don't know about it and still you are very happy. But guess what is happening to Rosy - She is in 7th heaven. Why? Because she has got this - Hi dear, just wanted to let you know - You are my one and only sweetheart. I luv you so much. Just cannot live without you. You are my dreamgirl. I wanna kiss you. I wanna feel your body. I wanna feel your touch. I wanna feel the heat of your body. Make me moan. Oh Darling! I wanna...guess what :) Please tell me when will you be online again? Hahahaha..And being above 50, Rosy would have hardly imagined about it. But neverthless, Rosy has found a new lover...hehehe!! Hey wait !! You forgot to check the private checkbox again..its all public again...Oh God..hahahahaha !! And it can get more funnier if people forget to delete those public scraps...leaving everything exposed...hehehehe!!

So, here we go. We have seen how shoutbox feature in blogcatalog leads to funny situations. The humor doesn't stop here. Now, look at - My Friends section. A lot of humor is associated with this section also. The very first thing I would like to put here is that it is very difficult to choose top 10 friends and more so if you have a big list of friends. And even if you are able to choose top 10 friends, the problem then left is to order them properly. Like your most important friend should be on the number one spot and so on...And believe me the number one position is a very precious position...hahahaha !!

Mary is about to login to blogcatalog. She is very excited because Jack has added her to his top friend's list in the morning. It has made Mary to believe Jack is the right person for her. She is obviously delighted to be his number one friend. Mary has also done the same thing. She has added Jack to his friend's list and on the top position. Seated with some of her sexiest friends, Mary opens up her blogcatalog profile. She is about to let her friends know about Jack. So, she clicks on Jack's profile and...hahahaha ! Jack has removed her from the top position, infact from his friend's list forever and placed someone else, dressed in sexy bikini. Mary is devastated. Poor Girl..Hahahaha...Dear, just wait for some more time. You will get much better person than Jack. Have patience :)

Believe me, it does hurt one very badly if you are removed from the number one position. Can't say about other positions. I remember I did the same to one girl who was quite older to me. Actually, I used to see her drop by my profile on a regular basis. Plus she also commented on some of my posts. But she never used to leave me any shout. Don't know why? Perhaps she wanted me to add her to my top friends list. So, just to make her feel good and special - I added her to my top friend's list and also left her a message in the shoutbox to let her know about it. And it worked - I could see her visiting my profile more often. And to add to it...I also started receiving shouts from her. Hahahaha..I knew it. And you know what I did next. I had to remove her from my friend's list very soon because I wanted to place someone else there. And when I did it, I could never see her visiting my profile again. I think she was hurt and badly. She also stopped commenting on my posts. This was really a bad experience for me. I feel sorry for what I did. but it was never intentional. Well, you cannot make everyone happy in this world. And I am not an exception..

Another interesting finding which is associated with this friend's list is that if you have too many females in your friend's list, then chances of getting shouts from other ladies decreases as they feel cheated and deprived of anything..hahahah!! Can't say exactly. But perhaps they this goes inside their heads -
  • All female fans in his top friend's list. But he has not placed me into his top friend's list. Rascal !! I will also not put him into my top friend's list. And I will also not leave him a shout..hahahaha..see, how you made her angry :)
  • Why is he ignoring me? I am also not into his top friend's list now. Oh God...how could he do this to me??...hahahaha...dear, please add her :)
  • I think he is very horny..look, only females in his list. hahaha..nice term :)
  • Why has he placed me on the second position and Tina on the first? I think I am more beautiful and sexy than Tina..hahahaha..dear..make her feel special :)
  • He is messaging me always. And here he is getting shouts from Maria, Tina, Rita, Jaya. Bastard, he is flirting with me...hahahaha..Dear, please don't flirt :)
So, there we are. Top friend's list does add a lot of humour in blogcatalog. I have tried my best to read the minds of my fellow bloggers. Everything is based on my mind reading skills. Don't know how exact I am with it. But still...hey, there is one more thing left. The dashboard section - fun goes here too.

Mike has just logged into his blogcatalog profile. He sees a pic of a sexy looking gal on the blogcatalog dashboard. He thinks its the time to make merry. He clicks on the thumbnail to visit the person's profile. And hahahahah...he find this info - Adam, 55, Male and in his profile description - Retired Policeman and blah blah...

Mike feels so down and dejected...hahaha...dear, it happens. it has happened to me too. Moral - Should never click on any sexy pic..hahahaha :)
