Right to express but how far can you go ?

A question to be asked to yourself - How far can I go? Is it right or not? Can I do anything with my blogging? Is right to express oneself always right?
Very recently one complaint was filed against Google India by an Indian Cardiologist from Mumbai. And to tell you more about it, Google India was held responsible for something which does make one think - How can it be? The case was actually filed against Google Blogger Service. According to what I know, the doctor complained that Google Blogger Service was used against him. Yes, someone used Google Blogger Service to post a number of inflammatory claims about him. The doctor later felt that immense damage was done to his reputation. He claimed that he has suffered incalculable harm and injury to his name, fame, standing and reputation. And shockingly, he blamed none other than Google India for all these drama. To all what happened, Google India did reply stating very clearly that it is not responsible in anyway for anything that has happened. The company later told that Google Blogger is an online blogging service which gets operated from US so as to blame Google India for any injustice being done to anyone here in India through Google Blogger Service made no sense at all. The company later came up with the statement that it has a zero control over blogger content. Yes, it said that its impossible for the company to keep an eye over each and everything being published in the blogs. Millions of blogs have been hosted on blogger and one can just imagine how difficult it would be for anyone to scan through all those blogs and filter out each and everything. To be honest, it is just impossible !
Now, how do you see it all? As far as what I see and believe, Google India is absolutely right in what it has put forward. Google India really does has nothing to do with the Blogger Service. As the service gets operated from the servers in the US, so in any case if you have to blame or file a case against Google, you have to do it in US which would still be ineffective because as per law in the US "ISPs and companies that provide hosting services have a degree of protection from being held legally responsible for the actions of their users" Google India being the local branch of Google in India, cannot be held responsible for any kind of misuse of Google Services here in India.
Also, I did post some questions in the beginning - How far can you go? Is it right for you or not? As an avid blogger, I too strongly believe in this "Right to Express". Yes, a service like google blogger and an activity like blogging has given me an ideal platfrom to express myself. And I will keep doing it. But I will also make sure that I am not crossing my limits. To be more specific, I will never resort to what I would term as a "hate blogging". My question here - Why would you ever do that? Why would you use your blog to spread hate or defame anybody? Does right to express yourself gives you the right to do anything even if it is morally unethical? Fine, you want to express yourself, you want to put your opinions, you want to put your views then why not do it an ethical manner? Why would your personalize anyone especially for the purpose of defaming? Why and Why..?
Please feel free to leave your opinions here. It will be highly appreciated.

The freedom of speech or expression has been in my view overated. There are simply just people who do not have nothing to do but try to damage someone's reputation, publicy. Sadly this was only possible through low level traditional media, but with blogs all over the place, one wonders, where this can all go. In this issue, I believe that Google (India or not) should not be held accountable for anything. The people behind it should be responsible. If everything that happens will be of Google's responsibility, then there will be no Google.

I think everyone is free to say whatever he wants even if it's hate.
But I personnaly will never do that, if I don't like you, I won't waste my precious time talking smack about youor anything related to you.
The lawsuit againg Google Blogger is just ridiculous. What was he thinking?? $$$$$$

Thanks Lazyking for your views. Yes, the lawsuit against Google India looks vague to me. It cannot be understood by any means. But this is India. People think that anybody can be blamed for any reason specified O:-)

Very right DiTesco. I too agree with you completely. Freedom of expression has been misused by most in recent times. People need to be more sensible on such issues>:o

I agree that it's not right to defame others. But there are people out there who don't care who they hurt.

I agree. It would be logistically impossible for Blogger India to police it's bloggers, however once Google is made aware of such abuse, I think that it's incumbent upon them to correct it and banish those abuser's IPs - not so much for moral or ethical reasons, but because it reflects poorly on Google, which may in turn have a negative impact on their business's bottom line.

Yes sister, people need to be more sensible on such issues. bty, thanks for your visit after so long. Keep smiling :)

Thanks Jim for your valuable comment. Yes, banning IPs can be a good solution to such problems. I think Google should consider it;)

Very interesting post. As technology improves day by day, I feel such things become unavoidable. One shouldn't take 'Right to express' for granted.
