Where are my Google ads ?

Posted by ASWANI
Did you notice something unusual in this blog? I hope not. Let me tell you. Where are my Google ads? What happened to it all of a sudden? Yes, Google is giving me headache for the past few days. Well, I had to remove Google ads just few days back. Reason - Instead of regular Google ads, public service ads were being displayed. Now, if it would have been for a day or two then its ok. But same ads continuously for past 2 weeks. Yes, the public service ads were being displayed continuously for past 2 weeks. I am not against those ads but then I was fed up of the same. Now, it is quite normal for anyone of you to believe that I may have been banned by Google for any violation of their rules. To be honest, its not the violation of rules that has led to such strange problem. The real reason why it has happened all of a sudden - Because I haven't verified my adsense account. I am not saying that. It is a message from Google which is quite amusing. It goes like this - Your pages are displaying Public Service Advertisements (PSAs) because you haven't yet verified your PIN and/or phone number.
Let me tell you, Google was displaying normal Adsense ads on my blog for the past 2 years and now all of a sudden I am being said that I haven't verified my adsense account. What rubbish!! And when I tried to find solution to this problem, I was left with nothing but frustration. Don't know if its the same case with you people or not but then as per Google, I have to verify a Pin Code which Google is likely to send to me very soon. Now, I've been waiting for that Pin Code for such a long time. And still, I haven't received it. Well, as per Google Adsense, there are two verification methods - either you can verify your account by verifying your phone number or you may go for a Pin Number. Google will send that Pin number to the address which you may have filled in your adsense account. Once you have received that Pin then you can login to adsense account, enter that Pin Code where its being asked for and voila..Your adsense account is verified!! This is what I know about Pin Code verification. May look quite easy but it hasn't been the same case with me. A much better way, I was hoping to verify my account by verifying my phone number. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any way to do it in my adsense account. Believe me, its so frustrating.
Now, have you people too been asked for your Google Adsense account verification? If yes, then don't you find this whole process of verification, complicated and time consuming? It really is in my opinion. First of all I think that Google should have made it easier to verify your account through email verification. That looks to me a better idea. The whole process would have been fast and convenient. Perhaps not more secure. And if they have stopped verification by phone number then I think they should rethink on it. Verification through phone number would also have been quite easier and fast. I am completely surprised by the way everything has happened to me. The point here is - Are you publishing ads to showcase public service ads? I hope not. Public Service Ads are to be displayed when there is nothing to be displayed related to your content. And I believe it doesn't apply to my blog. Of course not when you look at the fact that ads were displaying normally just a few days back. I am just paying the price for not getting my adsense account verified. I hope I will be able to verify my account very soon and have those ads being displayed normally once again on this blog.
But then again why did it take 2 years for Google to remind me about the adsense account verification ? Why so late ?

Perhaps because deep down, they really don't care - but periodically someone reminds them that a lot of sploggers are bilking advertisers out of money by way of adsense, so they make a show of caring? I don't know. Does seem a bit of a pain for all involved.

Hello, I am honored to see someone like you here visiting and leaving your comment. Highly appreciated. Yes, you are right. Its all pain involved>:o
October 14, 2009 3:00 PM
yes, its really hard to feel ! I hope google should improve better in judging the spam blogs and i am scared that ONE DAY i may also suffer like you in a similar situation like this! hope all will go well - PLEASE CHANGE YOUR TEMPLATE ASWIN! SPECIAL REQUEST FROM - medicine2life.com admin! :-D

Hi Rajesh, there is nothing I can say to you except thank you for the advice. Must say - you got it wrong completely. What has a template to do with ads display? Can you please explain it to me? I can understand your theory on spammy blogs but then what made you feel so for this blog. Its more of a problem from other side than from here. Problems lies with adsense account verification not with blog verification. Hope you understand:)

Hi Aswani,
I've been wondering if Adsense is a legitimate site with regard to their sincerity to help bloggers earn money. I'm in doubt still because i have read some experiences in which bloggers were not paid because of the accusation of spamming their own ads.
I've been using this site for more than a year but my earnings is only $ 32, how can you explain that when my blogs are PR 3 and PR 4?
Thanks for sharing your experience with us, at least we would become careful too. All the best. :)
October 14, 2009 5:29 PM
Well, Jena..I think this is your first ever visit to this blog. Thank you so much.
Yes, you are quite right. There seems to be too much talking on google ads. Lower earnings haven't affected much. People are still happy with it in the end. To be honest, money making was never my priority during my blogging but then I still thought to give it a try after all, I see nothing wrong with it. We all do it in one or the other way. My question is why so much delay in my account verification? Why so late?
And yes one more clarification for you, PR does not affect your adsense earnings. You earnings are decided on the number of clicks you receive on your ads. I think you should be working more on your ads placement. Try it and see. I am sure it will work for you and eventually you can have more earnings ;)
Anyways, you are most welcome here on this blog. Have a nice week ahead:)

Hi Aswani. Reading this has prompted me to go and visit my AdSense account very quickly and all seems well. For what its worth, recently Google has been doing many changes on all their monetization programs. Google Affiliate Network Payment has been integrated into AdSense and several other enhancements have been done with AdSense payment options that altered and have affected many accounts that were not within the new requirements. This is not a violation but rather a change. I am not sure if this is what caused your account for being "flagged" as not verified for so long, but there is currently a massive clean-up that is being done by Google. Just for you to know, if you have an Affiliate account, you must link it with your AdSense account by 31st of October or you will loose it.

Sorry to hear that bro this story seems familar we hear them regularly adsense is the biggest earner for most blog but there never seems a level playing field unfortunately i cannot offer a solution for this siutation but i just wonder if you were getting closer to a payday just athought
October 15, 2009 9:00 AM
There's little to nothing you can do about it now but to chalk it up as experience and get on with it. Petitioning Google with your grievance in the hope of getting anything other than a boilerplate answer would be an exercise in futility.
You're absolutely right; the whole Adsense setup is way to complex. Considering the tens of millions of sites that are signed up with the Adsense program, I'm amazed that it works as well as it does.
It's a crap shoot.
October 15, 2009 12:55 PM
Bro, I completely agree to what you have said here. But then again its the delay in my adsense account verification which has left me with frustration. I was about to get that pin code 4-5 months back and still now, I haven't received it. Common this is too much. They should fasten up the things instead of making others wait in despair.
No, I don't have the affiliate account. No such problem :)
October 15, 2009 12:58 PM
Thanks Bro. I agree Adsense is popular like anything. But ultimately it is your earnings which matter. I haven't earned much and getting closer to my first payment may take years..I believe so:-P
October 15, 2009 1:02 PM
Thanks Jim. No, I never thought about petitioning Google for the same. I am still hopeful of getting it done very soon. But yes, its far too complex. They should make it more flexible and fast:)

That's a strange experience you have with AdSense. Since I've moved to WP and self hosted it, I've yet to put it up back again so I can't say I can help you with a valuable tip or two. Have tried reaching the AdSense people via email or something?
October 15, 2009 3:16 PM
After I first received my pin code, I displayed it, pictured it and hugged it for a while. Then I lost it before I even encoded the pin. Upon learning that there is an expiry for it, I immediately asked Google to resend me another copy. When I received the new one, I immediately encoded the pin. it took me another six months for my first payout.
maybe it's google way of filtering the serious publishers from those who are not. just my opinion though!
October 15, 2009 9:49 PM
Yes, verification is probelm for non us publishers. I too faced the same problem, I asked adsense support trough several mail that i could not receive the PIN even in the last chance as provided by you. So as per its advice I have sent them the Scan copy of the Bank account of the actual Payees(my father) with photo and the matching address (as provided in the adsense account). I remembered to solve this problem in this way after several tension period.
best you go the adsense forum and search or ask for the solution....
Or search on google intensively.... if still not solved
Hope your account be verified soon by adsense,
Best WIshes

Yes, thats strange and very frustrating. No problem Jan. I am still hopeful of getting my adsense acccount verified very soon. No, never tried adsense via email. Yes but tried the same in my feedburner acount.
October 16, 2009 2:37 PM
Hi Novz..many thanks for your first ever visit to this blog. Well, I am no one to say anything about Google. But I do believe that they are unnecessarily delaying this whole process of verification. And one more thing, I would like to add here - I don't understand why they allow webmasters to publish adsense ads without getting their acccount verified first. First let everybody's account verified first and then allow them to display adsense ads. So that what had happened to me may not same happen to other publishers.
October 16, 2009 2:44 PM
Non-US publishers..I cannot get it. Its been two years for me publishing those ads and now, I am being told that I am a non-US publisher. Great!! Fine then why so late. They could have send me an email about the same which still they didn't. At least they could have emailed me giving me an assurance that tey have dispatched my pin code so that it would have been some relief for me. But nothing till now >:o
October 16, 2009 4:27 PM
I did experience that too! And it was so nasty when for how many days, google service ads were all displayed on my blog.
I was planning to take them down when google ads went back to its usual activity.
October 16, 2009 4:37 PM
Thanks Elmot for your first ever visit to this blog. Really frustrating it can be for anyone. Hoping for the same solution as yours:)

Hi Aswani! I joined Google Adsense last year. I went through the verification process thing as well. They sent a letter with the pin to the mailing address i specified, I inputted the pin to Adsense and voila! all done.
Sorry to hear you went through it the hard way.
Unlike Novs though, I haven't received my first payout. Might be another 10 years or so. Lol!
October 24, 2009 6:39 AM
Hey Reyjr, I am happy to know at least that you got your pin number finally. I am also hoping for the same. Let us see what happens. Thank you so much for the comment.Keep in touch :)

I pretty much quit messing with Google AdSense when they began running ads for the Republicans on my blog. If they couldn't figure out from what I was posting that I wasn't promoting the Republican agenda, they're not as good as I thought they were at determining the appropriate target market.
October 27, 2009 8:09 PM
Hi holly, This is quite amusing. Yes, Google seems that to be doing anything these days. Don't know why its so? Perhaps there is a big loophole in their overall adsense system:-P
October 29, 2009 1:16 PM

October 29, 2009 2:16 PM
Thanks Ann. Glad to see you here. Well, to be banned by Google is just awful. I think you should try to get those ads placed again. Keep trying. All the best and yes, I am hoping to get my adsense account verified soon :)
