Glad that we met. Yes, this is one of the best things about networking. You happen to meet so many people. Bob was one of them. Having him known for a long time, I have to say that he is one of the best bloggers around. Plus, he is a great motivator and truly, an inspiration for everyone. Yes, time and again he has been motivating others with his motivational thoughts. He has been a great mentor to me too. It is a sheer pleasure to have him as a guest author on this blog.
Here in his guest post, Bob is motivating others on how to achieve success. Hope you will like it..

It seems like now, more than ever, people want to know what it takes to be successful. There are literally thousands of videos, books, audios, and much more that teach people how to be successful in anything you desire. The problem with all that great information is, most people fail to use what they learn and all that knowledge becomes a complete waste of time and sometimes their hard earned money.
I don't claim to be an expert in the area of setting goals and becoming successful and up until recently, I was just as guilty for not applying the principles I learned. I read some of the best known books on motivation, goal setting and achieving success but that was the extent of it. A short time ago, I did read something that really struck a nerve and from that day on, I had an entirely different outlook on my personal goals.
The quote I read was a very simple one by Jim Rohn. It stated the following: "Unless you change how you are, you will always have what you've got." That got me motivated to make some changes and set some realistic goals. I felt I was finally ready to utilize some of the knowledge I had stored in my head.
I do know this for certain; If you want to achieve any level of success, one of the most important things you can do is set goals for yourself. If you were to ask any successful person what they feel is the primary reason for success, you'll will always get the same answer; "I set goals". That alone should tell you how critical goal setting is if you want to be successful.
It doesn't matter whether your goals are personal or business related. Having a goal is just a way of stating what you want out of life. When you set your goals, you need to put it in writing and state exactly what it is you want and how and when you are going to achieve it.
I think most of us have some idea of what we want out of life but that's where it ends...as an idea. If you are determined to get what you want, you need to take those ideas and turn them into goals. Without a goal, you have no course of action and without action, your ideas are only daydreams.
As I mentioned, start by writing down your goals and then place it somewhere where you'll see it every day. Make sure you set realistic goals for yourself that you truly feel you can accomplish or it will only lead to disappointment and frustration. Set a target date of when you plan to achieve your goal. If you say "someday I'll be wealthy", it won't work. You need to know how you are going to get there and when you'll arrive. You should share your goals with friends, family and co-workers. By getting them involved, they may support and contribute to you quest for achievement of your goal.
Those are just some of the basic steps you need to take but it will give you some direction. As you reach each of your goals, you will have a great deal of satisfaction and accomplishment in your life. As you reach each goal, move on to the next. One step at a time is always best. This will also give you a sense of control with your life. Without goals, you are just wandering around aimlessly and you'll never get to where you want.
Setting goals could be one the the most important things you'll ever do for yourself. There's no time like the present to get started. I hope you will take some action and achieve all your dreams and desires.
To your great success!

Hello Friends,
Would have dropped by sooner but I just found out my article got posted.
Hello Reetha, Thank you very much and I'm delighted to know that I helped to open your eyes. ;) You're absolutely right about people having lots of ideas with no goals. No goals=no success.
Hi Aswani, Thank you for allowing me to post here as a guest. It was a great pleasure for me to do so. If I inspire or motivate just one person, I'll feel like I achieved a goal. :)
Hi Shabnam, Glad you found the post motivational. I think we all get lazy at times but the trick is not to remain that way forever. That's why we need goals. Goals keep us motivated to take action and get moving. :)
Hello lawmacs, Thanks so much for your kind words. I'm delighted that you found this topic useful and enlightening. That's what it's all about.

Excellent post. Confucius once said, "if you do not know as to where you're going, you'll probably end up somewhere else". In this modern age, if you'll allow it, someone else will decide and you end up being just a follower, a blind follower always at the losing end. If i may i go a bit earlier, before embarking on the setting up of yr goals, do a bit of visioning and to do so you need to "rise above the ordinary" (just like going up in a helicopter from the ground up) and then sit down to set yr intended goals. When reading a story book we go from chapter one till the end and we get to know the full story. But in life and in personal or business endeavour we set goals and we need to line up the necessary strategies to achieve those goals and work upon them to achieve what we set out to do.
