The picture above tells us the whole story. Yet another email which caught off my attention. Sent again by Greenpace India, this is yet another request to sign a petition for something which I wasn't aware of till I received this...

Dear Aswani,

Junichi and Toru are people like us who love whales. They exposed corruption and the embezzlement of whale meat in the Japanese whaling industry. In retaliation, the former Japanese government is putting them on trial, where they face up to 10 years in prison.

All this for acting in the public interest and trying to save the whales. They're known as the Tokyo Two, and they deserve a fair trial. It is whaling that should be on trial, not the people who oppose it.

I've come to Japan to support them. Can you sign this petition to join Junichi and Toru’s fight to save the whales and urge the Japanese government to put whaling on trial, and not the people who oppose it?

The petition says: "I stand beside Junichi Sato and Toru Suzuki in their opposition to whaling near Antarctica. Their prosecution is politically motivated and designed to silence opposition. I call on the Japanese government to ensure that the 'Tokyo Two' receive a fair trial, and that the investigation into the whale meat embezzlement scandal is reopened."

This petition will be presented to the Japanese ambassador in Delhi.

The trial begins on Monday, so we need to act fast. Please forward this message to your friends and family to defend those who defend the whales.

Thanks a billion!
