Should I do a guest post in blogs of my own niche?

Interesting and yet another guest post from a very good blogger friend of mine...Shabnam. It all related with guest posting - Should you or shouldn't? I found it useful. Hope you too will find it the same.

Guest Posting is an effective way of increasing traffic to your blog, creating quality backlinks and needless to say that how much it helps in networking with other bloggers.In short guest posting is marketing your blog effectively – Am I right??
When you write guest posts for other bloggers you want to write such a post which will create interest in readers of other blogs so that they pay a visit to your blog. One thing which you should remember is that while doing guest posts in other blogs don’t over promote yourself by revealing too much information about yourself as most readers don’t appreciate this.
Regarding guest post one thing can come to your mind is that should I write a guest post in my competitor’s blog? Will it benefit me? Believe me there are lots of bloggers who don’t appreciate the idea of doing guest post.
Some bloggers feel that if they do a guest post in their competitor’s blog they will loose their loyal readers! Well if you have a bigger fan following then this will not be the case.
To be honest if you take my opinion then I don’t think you will loose your visitors. If your blog has good and unique content then your readers will NOT leave you. There is a saying that “CONTENT IS KING”. Hence, always try to write good contents in your blog which your readers will value as the mere existence of your blog online is because of your readers. Readers visit blogs to find valuable info around and for that they visit websites/blogs of same niche. Consider an example, if a reader wants to know about “make money online” then he will visit all the quality blogs of that niche.
Hence, don’t be skeptic of doing a guest post on blogs which are of your own niche. Grow as a network with bloggers of same niche; update your blog regularly with quality content. Your readers will flock around your blog as “bees around nectar”.

This is a good post about guest posting. I have been trying to figure out ways how to brand my blog, network more, and guest blog on other blogs similar to my own niche. The truth is, after almost 3 years of writing, I finally figured out where I want to take my blog.
I look forward to visiting more blogs with a similar niche and guest writing on their blogs and vice versa. :)

Well what more can i add toptally agree with you Shabnam guest posting does not mean that you will loose your loyal readers infact it may bring you more loyal readers brilliantly written well said.

Great post Shabnam!
Something I've been doing more of lately is writing guest posts. I also prefer to do my guest posting in blogs that are related to my own.
People who are visiting those related blogs will have more interest in what you have to say and if they like what you write, you have a much greater chance that will will also visit your blog.
I only wish there were more hours in a day so I could do more of it. ;)

Great advice Shabnam. I am one of those that truly believe that guest posting is one of the best "marketing" medium around. One should never fear to guest post on a competitors blog. As a matter of fact it is normally the other way around. There are bloggers who fear on publishing post of someone elses content because they too can think the same way. I think that a guest post on a blog that has the same relevant topic as I do will work wonders than anything else. Good one and thumbs up

I’ve guest posted outside of my niche, but do Guest Post in blogs of your own niche is the better ways to attract more target visitors. Do guest in blog where you know people are most interest in another niche than your, maybe just attract 30% of potential reader to your site.
However, Guest posting outside the niche is a great way if you are considering starting a blog on a different topic. 8-)

If someone is worried about guest posting because they are afraid of losing their audience, then they have their head screwed on backwards. If your content isn't good enough to keep your visitors around, then you are going to lose them regardless of whether or not you take part in guest blogging.

I've done very few guest posts, but never got what I had expected, so I've always stuck to that guest posts are never good for blog promotion. I would never do a guest post outside my niche, but if your trying to build your personal brand, then I think it wouldn't matter.

This is a good article about guest posts and I agree that to get target audience, you should guest blog in a niche that you want to attract readers from. Why blog about technology in a mommy blogger site devoted to children or parenting....etc. Always think about the target audience and if what you blog about normally is something they will want to visit and become regular readers of.
Because I run a poetry blog, personal blog and technology blog, I do guest posts in just about every blogging category because I can link it back to one of my blogs that has similar niche at all times.

Good advice. I am actually looking forward to guest post on blogs that are the same niche as mine. Although will still need to find out their audience type and what subjects matter to them. Before guest posting, it's important to do a brief research on the site, author and topics discussed. Always good to be prepared.
