brand value
Really finding it very difficult to update my blog these days. As you must have read in my last post, its festival season here and unlike what I have been doing all these years, it is quite a big turnaround this year. I have been keeping off from some of my favorite past times and sadly, blogging too has suffered because of the same. Its nothing new for me. Time and again, I have been finding it the same. But anyways, I am still with it...

Fine, do you believe in brands? Are you brand conscious? How much brand conscious are you? Does branding affects your decision making or you just ignore it? I guess most of us are brand conscious. Not much though but yes, branding does come into play when I am out there making choices for my shopping list especially electronic gadgets which I am quite fond of. I have been purchasing lots of gadgets in the past and most of them come from popular brands like Sony, Nokia, etc....I am least brand conscious about my clothing...obviously I don’t like to spend much on the same. It is one of the areas where I have never bothered to care much. Yet, not at all an issue with my dressing sense. It is quite appealing...I believe so ;)

Now, talking about brands and branding..how about knowing top global brands. Which are the best global brands? Have you ever thought of the same? I was just surfing web till I came across this list of top 10 global brands. You maybe wondering if the list is genuine or not. To me, it looked very genuine as I could see some strong reasons for the companies to make it into the list. The listing was based on 10 strong principles which goes as follows :
  • Commitment
  • Protection
  • Clarity
  • Responsiveness
  • Authenticity
  • Relevance
  • Presence
  • Understanding
  • Consistency
  • Differentiation
These ten 10 principles determined who made it to the top and who lost the race. And those who made it to the top were :
  1. Coca Cola
  2. IBM
  3. Microsoft
  4. Google
  5. GE
  6. McDonald’s
  7. Intel
  8. Nokia
  9. Walt Disney
  10. HP
Impressive list and I can see my favorite Google in top 5...absolutely no doubt with it. But I am quite surprised to see HP and Walt Disney making it to the top 10. How about you? How do you see this rating? Can you see any of your favorites in the list? Please do share you thoughts...

P.S - The list above was created by interbrand, an online brand consultancy firm which creates and manages brand value by making the brand central to the business’s strategic aims. Interbrand has total top 100 global brands in the list.
