Although blogging may seem to be quite straightforward for some people, there are many mistakes that novice make and could have been best avoided. In this article I will be covering 5 common mistakes and how you can avoid them if you are really serious about having a successful blog.
No objectives
It is important that you formulate some objectives before actually starting your blog. This will help you remain focus and make sure that you stay consistent throughout your blogging life. For instance you will want to set a target for the amount of traffic after X number of months or may be the number of subscription to your RSS feed. The key here is to make sure that you have some form of measurement to monitor your progress.
Poor template
If you consider all the successful blogs there is one thing in common- professional design. It is important that you ensure that your own blog has a professional feel to it. You do not want to appear amateurish to your readers. The good news is that there are a lot of premium templates that are available irrespective of the CMS that you use. Make sure that it is suited to your blogging niche and you will be ready to go.
Treat your blog as a business
Very often bloggers want to make money from their blog but instead continue to treat it as a hobby. This is a big mistake that will only lead you to trouble. Right from the start you should treat your blog as a business and consider employing freelancers if you feel the need. At the moment there is tremendous competition on the internet and only those that are competitive and professional will be able to succeed.
Domain and Hosting choice
This is another mistakes made by a lot of rookie bloggers. If you are really serious about the success of your business it is important that you make sure that you possess your own domain. As mentioned above, blogging is a real business and you should be ready to invest if you really want to make money online. At the same time you will also need to make sure that you choose a good host that will be able to sustain your growth in the future.
Too much focus on search engines
It is very hard sometimes to find the balance between writing for the search engines and writing for humans. Very often new bloggers will want to write content that is geared solely for the search engines and this can be a costly mistake. Instead you should write primarily for human readers while making sure that it is optimized for some keywords. The main thing is balance and gradually you should be able to fine tune your articles to make sure that they are great for both humans and search engines.
Very often bloggers jump in the blogging bandwagon without any sort of preparation and are then astonished when they fail miserably. In this article I have covered 5 common mistakes that are made by a lot of rookie bloggers and should be best avoided if you want to have a successful blog.

All of these mistakes are very true. I agree everything you said, especially number five: never write for search engines only but both for them and the human readers. This is very useful to all neophyte bloggers. Cheers!:-)

You have mentioned two main points and that is to treat your blog like a business and paying too much attention to search engines we must always remember that we write for humans not serach engines.

For those want to make money with their blog, I think the main important mistake to avoid is the 3th. Often blogger start blogging with the only purpose to monetize their blog. I even did this mistake. No matter what your niche is, before to make money online you've to build trust among your readers and avoid giving the impression you've a blog only for money and not for share knowledge.

This is a great advice Aswani for us bloggers. Very true, we have to be really careful of making no mistakes. I feel objectivity is the most important as it keeps the bloggers attentive of the quality of their posts.
