I have experimented with many blogging platforms. I started with Blogger which incidentally belongs to Google. I thought that Blogger would be an exciting place to be in but I was disappointed. It’s still sort of baffling to know that Google, of all the people, is throttling its blogging platform to death. If you want something very technical I would recommend Drupal or Joomla. Both are great for content management and for social media engagements. But what I personally love and use is WordPress. The best thing about WordPress is that you can create a static website along with a happening blog, using the same software application. There are thousands of themes you can choose from and it takes only a couple of hours to master this medium. You can make real money by creating abuzz using WordPress.

The power of social media

You just can’t do without social media if you want to create a buzz. Twitter can spread your message like wildfire. Facebook is great to connect with friends and likeminded people. By using the power of Twitter combined with Facebook, you can light an online fire which can translate into real money. Combined with blogging, social media engagements can make a huge difference to your online strategy. Though most of us agree to the fact that social media is important, we don’t seem to have a strategy in place to extract maximum benefit from it. At most there seems to be a fragmented effort to manage various initiatives. If you can put together a coherent and clear marketing strategy which includes blogging and social media, you can make big money.
