A question for my blog readers - Have you ever been approached by any person who is interested in buying your blog? Have you ever thought of selling your blog and if yes then what really made you think on the same? And if not then why shouldn’t you be selling your blog ? Eventually money has to come anyway, either your carry on your blogging with a hope to see people visiting in huge numbers on your blog and being kind enough to click on your ads or affiliate links which eventually keeps money pouring in. This surely doesn’t happen overnight and instead requires continuous involvement, dedication and commitment to pursue your blogging goals. It may take a year or two to see those results and when it happens, nothing looks more satisfying then. Well, I am still to reach that satisfaction level but anyways, what if I had sold this blog.
Believe me, I have never ever thought of the same till date but I was in a kind of indecision a week back. I was actually made to consider my blog for a sale to an unknown person. Yes, the proof of the same can be found below in the image -

| Email inquiry for blog sale |
Its been almost 5 years of blogging and there have been advices, recommendations and suggestions coming to carry on with the same and to add to it, I am currently into niche blogging as some of my very good friends wanted me to move from personal blogging to the niche blogging. Honestly, it was never ever easy to go for the same but I think I have managed it very well eventually. Anyways, niche blogging can also be termed as problogging or professional blogging where the main motive is to make money online. Though I am not completely into this money making mindset yet it is very hard to resist when you see others making hay while the sun shines. Personally, I do not find it wrong by any means after all it isn't about stealing other's money. It is complete knowledge sharing which if liked and compensated well...is a big plus..!
Now, as I said earlier...I was approached to sell my blog. It was truly one of the most shocking things to happen in due course of my blogging. Initially, I decided not to look any further into the same and simply refuse the proposal but honestly, I was in a bit of indecision over the same. The only thing which was making difference - MONEY. As you can clearly see in the above image, the person had promised me to pay a lumpsum cash in exchange of my blog. Money can make things go in your favor...maybe he had thought this and very rightly too. I was finding myself helpless and eventually made up my mind to sell this blog to him. Can you believe it ????
To complete the whole process few mails were exchanged and to take a final decision on the same, the person wanted me to fill some details on his site online form. The details to be filled were my blog statistics and related analytics. It was not easy but still I managed to fill all those details as required. Now, I was waiting for the climax and I was a bit nervous yet quite positive with the same. But this was very short-lived and the reason can be seen in the image below -

| Sale Rejection Email |
Well, all’s well that end’s well. Surely it was not the same with my case. However, I couldn’t regret much on the same as it was never ever going to happen anyways. Why would anyone buy a blog which doesn’t even fulfill the basic requirements? I was very honest with whatever details I had shared in the online form and if I hadn’t done the same and had decided to fill some misleading details then could things have gone in my favor...I don’t know...maybe yes..!! This blog was rejected because this blog doesn’t make $300/month. Interestingly, if I were to make so much from my blog then do I really need to consider my blog for the sale? Honestly, not..! I think it would have been my foolishness but anyways there were some obvious reasons to consider my blog for sale -
- Blogging has become hectic these days and it is never easy to keep it fresh and updated so often and again.
- Lack of time has made it really difficult to blog as I was able to do it 2 years back when I was more enthusiastic and free for the same.
- Money from sale could have been used to launch some other blog on some other or the same niche.
hmm...just few simple reasons. What say ?? Did I made the right decision to consider my blog for the sale ? Was I being too money-minded ? Did you had ever thought of me being into such indecision?
Please do share your thoughts...!

ha with a touch of humor and the point of view, this is good story and sort of with a moral..
i think ur initial decision was right not to sell the blog even if u were getting money. but somehow i m always wary of spam mails like this and mayb this was one of those who wanted to know how much u make monthly.
that is the only reason i see..
if i have to say more then i would say in this isi mein hi bhalai thi. ( if u understand hindi) in this only it was good that u know these things happen.. haa personally if i was in same niche and if i knew all these things i would have purchased it with whatever traffic u had. but then this is not my niche hehee
good write up and well my comment came very long. ahah

I agree with what Meena said. 95% chance, the email you've got is just a spam. If I ever get an offer to sell my blog, I would do it in a heart beat.If the price is right. And then, I might start a fully fledged website with a budget and a purpose.

Bro,
I think that you could have been slightly more careful with it. Though it is true that people do sell their companies to other large companies to make an exit but I think selling the blog is far more personal.
I feel that with blog gone , you would have lost a sizeable crowd who follows you and want to read what you write. It would have rendered all your efforts of so many years to nothing. So unless you get a really handsome price, in my opinion, is not prudent to sell it.
If you are not getting enough time to update, you can reduce your frequency of update. There are bloggers like Seth Godin who update once per day and like Laura Ries who updates in a long time. They both are equally popular. In my opinion you can write long article and not more than 3-4 per month. That way you have enough time to market your stuff and not worry about content all the time.
Also it is better not to go for too much guest posting as it lowers the quality of your blog. We want to read your writings only and it does not matter if you write one or hundred articles.
I think at this stage you need to refocus and set the right goals where you want your blog to go. You have a lot of knowledge but in my opinion you don't need to generate content like a machine.
I feel that your blog has a lot of potential. You just need to get the right focus.
Just a few suggestions from your good friend :)

You need to be careful as at times those messages are spam.it is good that you did not sell your blog.. i follow your blog regularly and you are doing a great job.
Decrease frequency of your blog updates as Ashvini has mentioned or may be even can invite others to write for your blog. These are just my few cents. AHappy blogging Aswani :)

It sounded like spam from the gate. It never ceases to surprise me and the stuff people pull to get something from you. My guard is always up even for a guest post. I can't believe the stuff people come up with. Glad you didn't sell.

You made a perfect decision....Please do not stop blogging. You worked hard in this blog consistently for 5 years....not a joke !! Do not loose the ownership :)

You're decision is good. It may have been a way to entice you onto their forum to buy another blog even. But where is an updated photo - without your baseball cap? lol :)

@Meena - Thanks for your views. Yes...I also cannot make it out exactly. But anyways, I am gald it never happened as it would have been.
@Anonymous - Thanks a lot for your views.
@Ashvini - Thanks Ashvini for some great feedback. Yeah, better late than never. The lesson has been learnt. I would never ever think of the same again. The temptation does make you crazy at times. Glad I was out of it without being a loser in real. Great advice...really appreciated..!
@Shabnam - Thanks..!
@LogAllot - Thanks a lot for your views..!
@We Cognize - hmm...!
@Kathy - Hmm...Lol, I will send it the next time if possible..:D
