Stunning Nighttime/ Low light Photography with The Asus ZenFone 2 Laser

It was not long back when I had the pleasure of sharing my experience on Asus ZenFone 5, one of the most gorgeous looking smartphones you can find in the market today. The phone had garnered heap of praises from the tech community and was eventually adjudged as the best budget smartphone of 2014. You can know more about the same from this press release – http://www.prnewswire.co.in/news-releases/asus-zenfone-5-wins-budget-smartphone-of-the-year–2014-award-283676701.html

ZenFone 5 success was soon followed up with ZenFone 2, the midrange offering from Asus. And now we have ZenFone 2 Laser, the most latest debut from Asus.

ZenFone 2 Laser is the most latest offering from Asus under sub 10K segment. Today in this post, I am here to share my experience on the same. I had the chance to play with Asus ZenFone 2 Laser in the recent Asus Zenfestival which I had attended in Pune, India on 9th August 2015. I had spent almost 3-4 hours with the handset and it never felt like leaving the handset anytime. Here is what I feel about this phone.

Asus ZenFone 2 Laser – First Impression

ZenFone 2 Laser is no different than the original ZenFone 2 phone except for the minor additions or say little improvement in the phone specs. The phone comes in a variety of colors as usual and luckily, I got the chance to play with the Red one. Though not my favorite, Red does add up to the wow factor. Trust me, the phone looks gorgeous in red and is a sure showoff. Another thing which had impressed me is the build quality which is relatively better than the one I use at present, Samsung Galaxy Grand 2. The phone doesn’t have the usual plastic feeling and holds quite nice in your palm, must say its very ergonomically designed. But where’s the volume button? I just couldn’t find it till I accidentally touched the metallic button located on the rear side of the phone. Aaha…I had found it. The volume button was here. Little uncomfortable for me but should be finer as soon as you get used to the same. Coming to the display screen, it appears very bright and vibrant. I was highly impressed with the touch response. Apps opened up in a flash. Plus with the latest Gorilla Corning Glass 4 technology, there remains little or no safety concerns.

Great Low light Photography with Asus ZenFone 2 Laser

Now, the real USP of the Asus ZenFone 2 Laser. Any guesses? Well, the title says it all. The ZenFone 2 Laser lets you explore the photographer in you. Yes if you love shooting images then this phone is for you. Asus ZenFone 2 Laser comes with a much better camera capable of shooting decent images in any condition. The images are good enough to be posted on social sites like facebook, pinterest and instagram. Pictures shot in the daylight looked excellent with good details. Credit to the Pixelmaster technology which captures stunning, high resolution photos with zero shutter lag. Images are captured at the blink of an eye and it doesn’t look blur at all.

Shooting Modes in Asus ZenFone 2 Laser

Even under low light conditions, the camera seems to do its job well with clear bright images – all without the need for a flash. You just need to activate the “Low Light” mode and you could shoot clear and bright low-light shots with no need for flash. The Super HDR mode lets you see clearly through daytime shadow and the Super Resolution mode helps in capturing images with amazing detail. Interestingly, the “Laser”word being used with the phone model name is actually attributed to the laser auto-focus technology being implied in the phone. The Laser auto-focus technology makes sure images are shot with fastest possible clarity especially in dim light conditions.

Nearly every image which I had shot with the phone cam, had a good level of brightness along with improved color contrast and detail. And the best of all, images appear very rich and natural. I would rate phone camera 4/5. Highly impressive and undoubtedly, one of the top reasons to buy this phone if you love shooting images doesn’t matter if it is your own selfie or any other image. Below are some sample images and videos which I had shot using Asus ZenFone 2 Laser –

Well, do I need to explain more? I think No. Asus ZenFone 2 Laser is an amazing camera phone as per my findings. I have no hesitation in recommending it to photo freaks who are in need of a decent camera phone without burning hole in their pocket. Go for it!

Well, solid build, gorgeous display and awesome camera…but wait there’s even more reasons to love the Asus ZenFone 2 Laser. The ZenFone 2 UI stands out with its simpler, smarter and personalized layout. Plus with hoards of app, the phone keeps you busy all day along. I especially liked these apps – Minimovie and Kids Mode. Minimovie as the name says, lets you create stunning little videos from your photos. Simply add your photos, select your theme and create your videos..That’s it!

The Kids Mode is a parental control app to make your phone child safe by restricting unauthorized access to your phone using a password. Until and unless the correct password is entered, user access to the phone remains restricted.  As soon as the password is entered, the phone becomes accessible to the user. One thing I liked most about this app was that you still have an option to keep some apps accessible to the user even if the Kids Mode is activated. Its pretty useful and effective!

Well, let’s wind it up with one final conclusion. Asus ZenFone 2 Laser is ideally one of the best camera smartphones in the current scenario. The phone has excelled in every department as per my observation though I had missed testing gaming on the same. The reason being I am not a game freak. I have rarely played any game on mobile devices. Apart from Angry Birds and Temple Run, I haven’t had much experience in mobile gaming. But I know there are lot others who love playing games on their mobile. You won’t be disappointed with Asus ZenFone 2 Laser. The 2GB RAM should be sufficient for any mobile gamer. Trust me!
