Types of VoIP Services

Those who are interested in implementing VoIP into their workplace will need to ensure that they have all of the right information. It is important to understand the system that you will be using if you want to use it successfully in your company. It is also important to note that there are a few different types of VoIP which may be of interest to you. These types will help to give you a better idea of how the entire system works and how you will be able to save money.

Peer-to-Peer

Peer-to-peer VoIP or SIP is simply the use of Voice over Internet Protocol through the use of what is known as peer-to-peer architecture (P2P). Call control between the two points of communication is helped with the use of SIP which is also known as Session Initiation Protocol. When using peer-to-peer VoIP, there is no need to use a central server as both communicators will be working with one another in order to actually communicate and send messages.

Through the use of peer-to-peer, you will actually be able to improve the overall scalability of your system and therefore this is one that you may want to consider. If there is a central network outage then you will also be able to survive this and continue the communication. This is probably one of the most important things to consider. There are of course other ones that you may want to consider before making your decision. Although this is one of the most original forms of VoIP, there are more advanced forms now that can end up providing you with an even greater amount of features.

Phone to Computer

This is another type that a lot of people will use in conjunction with several other types of VoIP. This is because some customers may only have a traditional telephone and therefore it is important to be able to contact everyone. With phone-to-computer VoIP, a traditional telephone will be able to call a VoIP account. What needs to happen is that the VoIP user must download a special VoIP program onto their computer. Downloading this program onto their computer will allow them to connect to traditional telephones and therefore communicate. This is another important form of VoIP which needs to be looked at and implemented in the office as it will ensure that you can keep in touch with as many new customers as possible.

VoIP Telephones

VoIP telephones can be deceptive because they look exactly like normal telephones and, from the outset, function in the very same manner. The difference here is that instead of using the traditional network, they are using Voice over Internet Protocol in order to work. As a result, they will be using the same network as your computer and therefore will end up saving a lot of money. VoIP telephones will be able to contact a range of devices as well. This will make them all the more easier for everyone to use. There are also other features that these phones have, such as answer phones.

Two Way

Two way VoIP simply means that people are able to call each other. A lot of the time, this is what VoIP telephones are designed to do.

Deciding to set up VoIP either at home or in the office is not a big decision and will not cost you a lot of money. Finding the right package will ensure that you have an effective method of communication. A lot of the time, this is exactly what most businesses will be looking for when it comes to speaking to clients.
