Covid-19 Vaccination in India : Winning Over Coronavirus

This is off-topic but please excuse me I couldn't resist from sharing my thoughts on the same. Especially in the current scenario, this needs to be discussed and on priority basis!

India, the country from where I come from is reeling under the 2nd wave of Coronavirus. The consequences have been devastating with average daily positive cases crossing 3 lakhs and average death around 2500. This has become a daily phenomenon and it looks terribly horrific here. Moreover, the figures are likely to jump in the coming days with the peak expected in the mid of May between 15th and 20th.

No one could have ever imagined such lethal return of Coronavirus in India. Things were in control till February end but March saw a rapid surge in the Covid infections surpassing all records especially in the places like Maharashtra and Delhi. Now a similar trend is visible in other Indian states making things severely out of control. Healthcare system is completely crippled with the lack of essential resources like hospital beds and Oxygen supply especially Oxygen supply whose shortage has resulted in unprecedented casualties.

Nothing to hide here, even I had caught Covid-19 in the mid April and fortunately, I have recovered well. Sadly, many others haven't been so lucky. Visuals of people gasping for breath and their relatives pleading desperately for help continues to haunt me. It is such a nightmare for all of us!!

God only knows when will these all end!!

Hopefully in a month or two but can we let people die like this till then!!

Obviously not!!

While the government is making sure that more and more Covid centers with required beds and oxygen facility are available for the sick, the other most important thing we must do is to get ourselves vaccinated as soon as possible!!

Vaccination drive is already open for the age group 45 and plus. But it has been little effective in combating the spread of the Coronavirus. Infections are still on the rise!!

Along with the vaccination of 45 and plus, there was also a need to vaccinate people in the lower age groups as people in these age groups are most likely to spread the infection at an alarming rate!!

The government of India has finally understood the gravity of the situation and has now opened up the vaccination drive for everyone in the age group 18 and 18+

As a concerned citizen of India, I believe this decision has come a bit late but anyway, better late than never. We all must welcome this decision and play our part by participating in this biggest vaccination drive in India.

Let us all get vaccinated and do our best to keep Coronavirus at bay. Obviously, Vaccination doesn't mean that we can never get infected from the virus but it surely will keep us protected from dangerous symptoms which can lead to fatalities. In other words, it can drastically reduce the mortality rate which is the need of the hour!

To get started with the Vaccination process, here are the steps to follow:

  1. Visit the CoWIN website, and click on to the option to register/sign in yourself.
